Dogecoin on the Moon

I have been fascinated by cryptocurrencies since the early days of Bitcoin. Back in 2015, I thought it would be fun to help Dogecoin pursue their unofficial motto, “To The Moon!”

I created Dogecoinonthemoon.com, which raised funds by selling advertising space and accepting donations.

The majority of the funds went towards a coordinated effort with Google Lunar XPRIZE winner, Astrobotic. The remaining funds were used to design and mint limited edition gold-plated coins. One of which will be sent to the moon while the remaining coins were awarded to the top 20 donors.

In January 2024, Astrobotic’s lunar lander was sent up into space on ULA’s Vulcan rocket along with other notable items like Gene Roddenberry’s ashes. Unfortunately, the lander developed a fuel leak and couldn’t make it to the moon. Instead, it turned around so that it could burn up in Earth’s atmosphere. In spite of this, I’m eternally grateful for the community’s support, the things I learned, and the friends I made along the way.
